Evelo Aurora: A Really Outstanding e-Bike!
I am a 70 year-old male, novice, bicyclist. In 2015, I purchased the Evelo Aurora (with 500 watt motor, 48V 14.5 Ah Extended-Range Battery, and a NuVinci Drivetrain) to replace my EG Monte Carlo EX 500. After about 200 hilly miles, about half on rough Vermont dirt roads, the following are my comments:• The mid-drive motor is great. More power on hills and quieter than a rear hub drive.• NuvVinci drivetrain is outstanding. Quiet and smooth. Much better than conventional gears.• Easy to assemble. Took about 1 hour. Instructions were clear.• Seat was OK but I’m in the process of replacing it with a deeper channel. $40 rebate from Evelo is a nice perk.• Very comfortable. A nice compromise between a mountain bike and a cruiser-style bike.• I live in Vermont and travel on both rough dirt and paved roads. Handles everything well. Soundly built. No rattles.• Customer service is outstanding! It’s really nice to talk to people who are bicyclists and really know their products, in detail, and enjoy talking about them.• Had a problem with the battery becoming loose within its case and breaking a wire. Evelo quickly helped me trouble shoot the problem and took the initiative to arrange for a local bike shop to make the repair. I decided to repair it myself but Evelo’s support was exceptional. I’ve had no other problems with the bike even though I use it on some pretty rough dirt roads.I took a financial beating when I sold my EG bike but I’m really glad I took the plunge. I’m seriously considering buying a second Aurora for my partner. I’m willing to respond to questions.

INCREDIBLE BIKE! This is a no-brainier purchase after owning 3 electric bikes. Beat them all by a mile.
This is the first product in 10 years of using Amazon.com for which I have written a review. I bought the EVELO bike based on all of the positive reviews, its specs, and the extremely knowledge technical support. I wish there was a rating beyond 5 stars, since this bike blew my mind today when taking it for a ride.I went through two electric bikes before settling on the EVELO, The first was a cheaply made bike off of eBay, that couldn't even get up a small hill. The second was a $1,600 bike with 1,000 watts or power and a max speed of 30 mph. However, this speed could only be accomplished with the “motor only mode”, since the gear systems were at odds with the motor, and the ride never felt "natural". It felt like a spinning class with the motor all of the time, having to peddle incredibly fast to make any difference ins peed. The top speed of 30 mph on a flat (over 40 mph downhill) was just TOO FAST and illegal in most states (you are required to register the bike if it goes over 20 mph, which the EVELO on-road mode is set too. If you want 40 mph+ speeds, a motorcycle would be the way to go.Now comes the EVELO, with a max speed of 25 mph (which seems perfect), and a special gearing system called the "NuVinci" which allows for seamless gear changes, even when stopped. It has a completely natural feel of riding a bike, without even noticing the motor is helping you when on the peddle assist settings (except for going much faster than you would normally go, at half the effort!). You can set the peddle assist as hard or as easy as you would like, which is great, since it allows me to keep up with my friend who is a much better bike-rider.If you are hesitant about buying online, don't be. There is a 7 day free trial, where if you don't like the bike, you can return it for its full cost plus shipping during this time period. But I doubt anyone returns it after using it! I never rode bikes consistently before, but now plan to use this every day! Like having a handicap in golf.FYI: Factory default setting has a max speed of 20 mpg. You can use the motor-only mode and go up to 25 mph, however, by changing a few setting it is ready to go 25 mpg in these off-road setting (in off-road terrain, not streets or bike paths). Turn the LCD screen on by holding down the middle button, and then hold the plus/minus signs down at the same time. Scrolling through this menu, which pops up, enables you to up it to 40 km/hr., which is about 25 mph.I would recommend getting the Aries fully loaded, since the battery lasts longer and lets you go faster and for longer speeds (up to 60 miles with peddle assist!). It also looks very cool!!

This bike is beautiful, Fast
I have had my bike now for two months. I did a lot of homework before I spent money on an E bike. This bike is beautiful, Fast. Great disc breaking, Easy to assemble for a person with mechanical skills. Just watch the video of the assembly on their site. Go step by step. Do NOT jump ahead. It was already fully charged when I got it. I suggest riding the bike with no power first. This will let you do you adjustments that you may require. The bike goes up hills no problem here in Florida. The pedal assist is what i use most of the time . Level one. The bike is made in China. The New York office is very help full if you need to call, If I read the directions better I would of know how to turn on the lights. I am still a boy who just wanted to get going. Now my wife wants one.

Excellent bike
Thank you very much to everyone at EVELO, I absolutely love my new Aries bike, with more than 177 miles and counting on my new wheels, with each pedal stroke I take, I am even more pleased with my new bicycle. I have been riding over 22 miles/day. I'm now able to travel further, climb greater inclines and pedal light to moderate terrain that before would of been a lot more challenging or down right inaccessible living in higher elevation in my city. I look forward to many more years of enjoyment on my EVELO bicycle. Evelo Electric bicycles aren't replacing bicycles, they are replacing cars. The greatest component EVELO has is the amazing customer service. You won't be disappointed, these e-bikes are spectacular. I can't wait for all the snow to melt and get back on the road.

Great choice for me
Love my Aurora. I purchased it directly from the company and have no regrets about my choice. I did the research, visited with an Ambassador and ordered this version in the XS (extra small model). Everything is awesome about this bicycle. Shocks, disc brakes, battery life NuVinci drivetrain, all terrific. Those are the pros. Cons, for me, is the weight of the bike. Too heavy for me to lift onto a bike rack. Also, I do wish the battery was located in a central position. The added weight of the better on the rear makes the bike a bit top heavy. The bike is about 70 lbs with the battery and I am in my 60's and only a lightweight at 106 lbs. E bikes are all heavy - what can you do? But I still love my Evelo and would not change my 5 star review.
