Q: Can this be used in mame as a spinner in games that need one.?

Yes, sort of. Opening notepad, pressing down on the spinner, and plugging in will bring up a menu where you can change it from the default volume up and down to mouse right and left. In Arkanoid this gets it to work but the problem, for me at least, is that the sensitivity is way too low even on maxed-out settings.

Q: Can this be used for scrubbing and jogging? And programs like Sketch and Photoshop?

Actually it wouldn’t be that hard if you use a Mac. With software like better touch tools (which I highly recommend, I’ve been using for years to custom program unused F-keys, it’s super easy to do), you could program the volume up/down to do something special while you are active in photoshop (such as mimic the keyboard shortcut for scrubbing or jogging), but you would lose your volume up/down keyboard shortcut while you are in the app it’s programmed to interact within. I’m half tempted to try this now.

Q: Is this a full blown media controller like the Griffin Powermate? Or is this really just a volume knob?

I use it primarily as a volume and external/headphone switcher - very few issues with this accessory. I am not familiar with the Griffin Powermate.

Q: Have they fixed the issue reported where it reverses the L/R speaker output?

Not that I am aware of. They sent me an email asking if I would test an update. This was over 5 months ago. They never sent the unit and stopped replying to emails. It's not a super major issue, but... still.
