The Black Island

I liked the story very much. I loved the illustrations. I hope the other books are as good as this!

Out of all the Tintin books I bought, this is the only one I got in Hardcover edition because I have a lot of memories associated with The Black Island. When I was 8 years old, I got into an accident and fractured my leg. So, after the operation I had to take 3 months holiday from school. One evening during a power cut my mom made me chicken soup, but I wouldn't drink it. She knew books were my weakness and then she pulled this mysterious looking comic called The Black Island from her bag which she had borrowed from her office's library. She later blackmailed me into drinking it if I wanted to read the book, which I of course did. I remember finishing the book in the same night under the light of a candle and then re-reading it many times over the next two weeks and begging mom to bring more books of Tintin. I have never looked back and my love for Herge's Tintin has only exponentially increased since then. A terrific, magical series both for adults and kids. One for the ages.

It's a full sized Tintin book, and not a small sized print like the 3-in-1 books. High quality pages. Wonderful read as always with Tintin series. Story is simple enough for even 10y + kids to fully understand.

Giving one star less only because this is printed in China.Otherwise, 5 stars for Tintin

I'm a Tintinologist and when I got this book I was surprised because it reached me before time and the packaging was great . Then when I read this book I think this is one of the most adventurous books of The Adventures of Tintin . I prefer everyone (Especially Tintinologists ) To buy this book and enjoy it.

Me ha llegado en el tiempo previsto y en perfecto estado. Está en inglés. Ya tengo toda la colección en español y en inglés, (aunque el original sea en francés). Me ha parecido interesante, de cara a los idiomas, poder volver a leer los comics de esta colección en inglés.

Notre premier Tintin en anglais (on a quasiment tous les autres albums en français), et je dois admettre que The Black Island est meilleur que l'Île Noire! Les textes anglais sont beaucoup plus drôles. Pour prendre un exemple parmi des dizaines: lorsque Milou mange le poulet sur le train et dit "Long time since this was an egg!" contre "Un peu coriace, hein?...". C'est à se demander si l'île Noire ne bénéficierait pas de quelques modifications inspirées de la traduction anglaise.J'ai commandé la version reliée (ISBN: 978-1405208062), neuve, directement d'amazon.fr. La version reçue n'a pas la même couverture que sur la page amazon. La page de l'article montre la version fac-similée et non la version reliée. Sur l'article reçu il y a Tintin, de dos, sur une barque en direction de l'île Noire (la même couverture que pour la version française). En gros, sur la version fac-similée la barque a été remplacée par une falaise.
