Sturdy/heavy duty
Works awesome for my 35” spare! My lug pattern is 5 x 5.5 and I got 3 bolts to secure the spare. Great unit!! I didn’t need a spacer.

Best Investment for my Truck
I read a lot of the reviews on this product, some positive and some not so much, still for what I wanted, this was the best product I could reasonably get for the price. I watched as it travelled from the northern states to north Georgia, and was at work when it arrived. When I arrived home, I found the product in a very heavy duty cardboard box. This was a surprise since many reviews said it would arrive without one. There was no hardware, so I put a spare pin in the bracket and mounted it to my truck front end. I don’t have a spare yet, but since I am in a lot of traffic driving to work, and since the front of my truck is mostly 20 year old plastic, I figured some steel in front couldn’t be a bad thing.I read several posts about the powder coat flaking off. Not so on mine. Perfect coating, and without the tire, it can’t even be seen from the windshield.Last night while driving home, in the rain, I was in a 3 car pile up. My truck was in the middle. A lady hit my back end, very hard, and really messed up the front of her car. I have a solid steel bumper, and literally had no damage to the rear. As I have already discussed, my front end is mostly all plastic, and when she hit me I was at a dead stop. I got knocked into the truck in front of me. I figured the front of my truck was destroyed..........but it wasn’t. Nothing. No damage at all. You could see where my Curt spare tire bracket had creased the steel bumper of the truck in front of me, but no damage to my spare tire carrier at all. Even the powder coat was perfect. I drove away from an accident that should have totaled my truck because I bought a Curt Spare Tire Carrier and put it on my truck. Best investment I’ve ever made. I’m gonna buy another one and put it in the back. Highly recommend. Best product ever.

solid hitch
Simple to attached to vehicle however a 4 star because the universal holes did not fit my rim. Had Midas power tool larger the 3 holes. Not easy drilling into the solid metal. After this hitch works great.

Built like a tank, but read review
First off this thing is solid and I'm happy with the purchase. But if your rims are deep the rim will hit on the upward shaft before the mounting area will make contact with the rim. After measuring it i had roughly an inch of space between the rim and the mounting surface. I ordered a rim spacer/tire adapter to fill that void. Hope this helps someone.

Works well
Used this CURT Spare Tire holder to carry a Spare on our Sprinter RV, worked really well. One issue is that as advertised it did not have the bolts/hardware to hold tire, had to buy those from our local hardware store

Nice Tire Carrier
Great tire carrier for the price. Did the job for a 6x180mm bolt pattern, steel wheeled spare on the back of our small, Class C dually RV. This is likely the largest diameter bolt circle for a six lug wheel this carrier can accommodate. Lack of any provided hardware allowed me choose what I preferred. Three Grade 5, 3/8 inch diameter bolts with fender & lock washers secured the spare to the angled mount. I liked the choice of three positions for depth & selected the one bringing it in closest to the back of the RV. A StowAway hitch tightener eliminated any rattle problem. An Aomacsi tire cover completed the deal with a good look. A locking hitch pin was added to deter theft as well as a nylon covered steel cable with padlock between wheel and the Curt.

19.5" rims, NO-GO!
The product is fine. FYI: An 8 lug, 19.5 rim will not fit, this way or flipped the other way.

Doesn't work with Ford F150's integrated hood-grill assembly.
This is a very well-made product, BUT it was impossible to use as a front mount on my 2013 Ford F150 because, when the spare tire is installed on it, the tire angles backward so far that it prevents the hood-grill assembly from opening. For some unknown reason, Ford designed many of it's late model F-series truck with the front grill integrated with the hood (ie. attached to it). So when you open the, hood the grill comes up with it (really dumb design, IMO). This greatly reduces the clearance between it and any spare-tire carrier that mounts the tire at a backward tilt where the top edge of the tire gets in the way of the grill when you try to open the hood. The only way to solve the problem with these types of spare carriers (Draw Tight is another one), is to add a hitch extension, but that puts the whole assembly ridulously far out in front of the vehicle, potentially causing serious bottom-clearance problems, even going in and out of a moderately sloped driveway. (Believe me, I tried it).So, if your Ford truck comes with this poorly-conceived integrated hood-grill assembly, do not buy this item if you intend to use it as a front mount. I really wish the manufacturer (Curt) would publish a compatibility notice about this, give how common late-model Ford f150s are out there; so that's why the 3 stars from me (I had to return it as a cost). Otherwise, 5 stars for well-made product. Probably would work great as a rear-mount, or even as a front mount on a truck without the integrated hood-grill.
